Katherine Magraw PhD


Biography
Katherine Magraw is the Director of the Peace and Security Funders Group, an association of foundations and philanthropists dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of philanthropic activity in the field of peace and security. Katherine has broad experience in international security policy, as a grantmaker, policymaker and activist. She was program officer for the W. Alton Jones Foundation, a grant-giving foundation that dissolved in 2001. Prior to that she served as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of State for International Policy and as a Foreign Policy Specialist for the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency (1994-1999) where she was responsible for the negotiations of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. She also was a Legislative Aide for Senator Paul Wellstone and held several senior positions in non-governmental organizations in Washington, D.C. that promote multilateral solutions to global problems, and nonproliferation and control of nuclear weapons. Katherine has a Ph.D. from MIT and a BA from Yale College.
