Bruce Schearer


Biography
S. Bruce Schearer supports organizations and individuals to utilize generative, systemic change approaches to reach their goals and to build a better world. He is a civic leader, former non-profit executive and expert in international development and philanthropy. For 18 years, as Executive Director and then President of The Synergos Institute, he led efforts to build partnerships between government, civil society and private sector groups to address poverty, development and environmental issues in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He has worked closely with senior officials from the United Nations, foreign aid agencies, governments, development banks, private foundations, global corporations and local communities and citizens groups to advance development in over 30 countries. Since leaving Synergos in 2005, he has been advising the United Nations Development Program, Millennium Promise, the Avina Foundation, the Alliance for a New Humanity and other groups on strategy, programs, generative work processes, organizational performance and fundraising. He serves as member of advisory groups, boards and the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Schearer is the author of several books and numerous policy and scientific papers, including most recently "Some Thoughts on Creating High Value Multistakeholder Partnerships" (2005).
