Biography
Dr. Kumaresan serves as President of the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI). Prior to joining ITI in 2003, Dr. Kumaresan served as Executive Secretary of the World Health Organization’s Stop TB Partnership; as its top official, Dr. Kumaresan worked to mobilize partners, manage drug distributions, and advocate for TB control.
Over his twenty-year career in public health Dr. Kumaresan has managed infectious disease programs in the developing world and worked extensively in India, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Dr. Kumaresan has vast experience in the areas of strategic planning, program analysis, monitoring, evaluation, and advocacy and has been published extensively on the subject of infectious disease. Dr. Kumaresan, an Indian national, received his MD degree from Kilpauk Medical College, University of Madras, India. He later earned a MPH in 1985 and a Dr.PH in 1988 from Tulane University, New Orleans, USA. |
