Travel

    Planes:

There are several airports to fly into in order to get to the conference:

The largest and closest airport is Boston's Logan International Aiport (BOS). Just about every domestic airline flies into Logan; you can see a list of airlines flying into Logan here.

There are also two other airports in the area if you feel like taking a drive -- they're a bit further away, but it's possible to fly low-cost carriers such as Southwest. Try Providence's Green Airport (PVD) (with a list of airlines here) or Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) (with a list of airlines here) for lower fares, though you'll have to rent a car and drive to Boston.

Note: If you're traveling from Columbus (OH), Fort Myers (FL), Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point (NC), or Jacksonville (FL), you can check a new low-cost airline, Skybus for super-low ($100) fares.

    Trains:

Amtrak serves the Boston area. You can take the train to either the Back Bay or the South Station stops, though Back Bay is closer to the campus.

After arriving by train, Northeastern is accessible by subway via the Green Line (the Northeastern stop on the E line) or the Orange Line (Ruggles Station stop). Commuter rail lines connect with the Orange Line at Back Bay Station, Ruggles Station, and North Station. Check out the MBTA site for a map. Most of the conference will be taking place in the Curry Student Center, which is building 50 on this map, and is directly across from the subway line.

    Automobiles/Buses:

    From the north

Take the Storrow Drive exit, and proceed to the Fenway exit. Follow signs for Boylston Street inbound, and bear right onto Westland Avenue. Turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue, proceed to the next traffic light, and turn right onto Huntington Avenue. At 440 Huntington Avenue (West Village H, 16-story glass building) take a left onto Parker Street. Take a left onto Ruggles Street, and then turn left onto Leon Street. Park in the West Village Parking Garage.

From the south (via Route 1-93, Route 3)

Take exit 18 (Massachusetts Avenue/ Roxbury/ Frontage Road.) Turn left at the third light, staying in one of the two left lanes. Proceed straight onto Melnea Cass Boulevard. Continue for approximately two miles, and turn left onto Tremont Street. At the second light turn right onto Ruggles Street. Turn right onto Leon Street. Park in the West Village Parking Garage.

From the west (via Route I-90, Mass. Turnpike)

Take Exit 22 (Copley Square), and bear left toward the Prudential Center. From the exit ramp, proceed straight onto Huntington Avenue. At 440 Huntington Avenue (West Village H, 16-story glass building) take a left onto Parker Street. Take a left onto Ruggles Street, and then turn left onto Leon Street. Park in the West Village Parking Garage.

From the west (via Route 9)

Proceed east on Route 9; it will become Huntington Avenue. Turn right onto Ruggles Street. Turn left onto Leon Street. Park in the West Village Parking Garage.

    Public Transportation:

Northeastern is accessible by subway via the Green Line (the Northeastern stop on the E line) or the Orange Line (Ruggles Station stop). Commuter rail lines connect with the Orange Line at Back Bay Station, Ruggles Station, and North Station. Check out the MBTA site for a map. Most of the conference will be taking place in the Curry Student Center, which is building 50 on this map, and is directly across from the subway line.

    RideShare:

One great way to cut costs for the conference (and to be more environmentally friendly) is to share a ride with others. We have launched a discussion thread on the conference Facebook group to facilitate that process. Add the group here, and feel free to join in the conversation!!

    NEW! Current weather in Boston:

    • The average high for Boston in March is 46 degrees; the average low is 31 degrees. Boston is a walkable city, but there's a good chance that the windchill will make things quite nippy. Special Considerations

    • For all special food needs (vegetarian, vegan, kosher, halal), please include a note on your online registration form.

    What to Wear

    • This conference is all about having a good time, meeting new people, learning from your peers, and, well, having a good time! We want you to be comfortable, so wear clothes that do just that. Remember, though, that you'll be meeting with folks who you may want to ask for a job at some point, so do make sure that you're presentable!
