You read it right. Your gift of plastic poop will be used in an innovative hygiene training program in Bolivia that facilitates discussion of sanitation issues. Participants are given a "gift" which generates excitement and interest. When they open it, they discover plastic poop (or a fly or rat). more Your gift will purchase one family's share in a community water system to support small scale production of high value crops like fruits and vegetables. In addition to providing water for irrigation, your gift will furnish water for household uses – drinking, cooking, and cleaning. more This gift will provide a sustainable, safe water supply for one person in the developing world. It might be a child who will no longer be sick and can go to school. Or a woman who will no longer have spend hours every day hauling water for her family. more Your gift will fund one trip by an activist to help document and report ongoing abusive practices against these communities. Because of the work of Fund grantee Green Advocates, these local communities are starting to organize, resist, and generate media attention. more Your gift will allow a mason to construct a 4,300 cubic liter rainwater jar that can provide water storage for 20 people. more Giving the gift of clean water is greater than just giving someone a bottle of water. more This gift will provide fencing and/or tree planting to protect a watershed in rural Honduras. This will help ensure the highest quality water for a gravity-fed water supply system. more Your gift will provide a KickStart pump for one family, lifting them out of poverty forever. What does "out of poverty" look like? It means a family has enough food to eat, decent clothes and shelter, enough money to send ALL of their children to school and STILL have money left over to invest in the future. more Treating drinking water costs less than one penny per family per day, and could save one million children’s lives each year. This specific gift can provide more than 2500 families with safe drinking water. more The gift allows us to pay for the drilling equipment and labor required to rehabilitate one existing well. This would provide water for cooking, drinking, sanitation and agriculture and benefit many lives, because in some communities, as many as ten thousand people share a single well. more Your gift will improve the quality of life for rural communities. Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the Americas. CRS Honduras is working with our partner to meet the water needs of poor farm families. more Your gift will provide 6 communities with access to the tools and skills necessary to build sanitary latrines in safe and secure locations. more |
