Problem

Today's youth are growing up in a world rife with conflict and human rights abuses. While some young people have chosen to respond to this tension with hatred, violence and intolerance, a growing number of youth are choosing the path of peace and human rights. It is these peaceful efforts that we must encourage and celebrate. We must support youth in overcoming cultural and other differences and tackle the causes of discord and violence between nations, cultures, communities, and individuals.

The Gift

GYC provides training to help open the eyes of young people to some of the world's most pressing human rights challenges and to empower them to be able to be part of the solution. We alsp provide long-term support and mentoring to youth as they work to achieve change in their communities. We primarily do this work in parts of the world where violence has torn communities apart and where young people have a unique opportunity and responsibility to stand up and make a difference. Our current program sites include: Bosnia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jordan, Nepal, Rwanda, Venezuela, and the U.S. This gift will help us expand our global reach to youth, particularly in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, by paying for one day's work of a staff member.
