Founded in 1944, Heifer International is a humanitarian assistance and sustainable development organization working to end world hunger and protect the Earth. Through livestock, training, and "Passing on the Gift," Heifer has helped seven million families in more than 125 countries improve their quality of live and move toward greater self-reliance.

Heifer helps communities build the foundation to lift families from poverty to self-reliance. Heifer is able to make sustainable impacts through by focusing on training and education for agroecology, animal well-being, gender equity, HIV/AIDS, microenterprise, urban agriculture and young people. Every day, Heifer helps build a world where small farmers provide their families with nutritious meals and where impoverished mothers can better afford adequate housing, medical care and school fees for their children.
