Problem
Hospice care is nearing its 25th anniversary as a Medicare benefit – and many of the original hospice leaders are nearing retirement. Without these founding leaders, who transformed care for the seriously ill and dying, hospices are in danger of losing the core values which make hospice care unique. With new managers moving up through their organizations, surveys demonstrate the need for a hospice manager training program rooted in hospice values and state-of-the-art, hospice-specific information.

The Hospice-MDP covers a variety of topics including manager roles and skills, situational leadership, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, interviewing, evaluation skills, information technology and hospice financial management.
