Oftentimes individuals infected with VL are not aware they are infected or are unable to receive timely treatment due to distance from nearest healthcare facility or high price of treatment. Proper control of the disease is critical in order to be able to correctly diagnose Visceral Leishmaniasis, properly administer paromomycin injections, and monitor that patients receive 21 consecutive days of injections, otherwise lifetime immunity can be compromised and drug resistance can become a risk.

Your gift will provide one week of training to local healthcare providers to identify and diagnose Visceral Leishmaniasis, administer injections, and monitor patients at special Visceral Leishmaniasis treatment clinics.
