Many African communities face an economic catch-22, with no startup funds and no way to earn them. Tostan has pioneered a method of combining social and economic empowerment to break this cycle by giving dynamic community members and registered community groups access to small loans and training on how to start and manage small projects.

The Gift

Your support will allow a community member in Guinea who has completed Tostan's microcredit training to invest in small projects and begin taking steps toward financial independence. Your gift will also bring returns for many years to come, as the funds pass from one participant to the next. To date, the rate of repayment on these loans is 100%--meaning that money donated in 1997 is still in circulation!
