And we cannot rely on governments to solve these problems on their own. What are required are smart, dedicated people with the experience and resources to motivate countries to act.

The Gift

Your gift will pay for the travel and investigations by 2 U.S. experts to Russia and the Central Asian region to identify and prioritize the highest-risk sites where dangerous nuclear materials are stored. One of the most difficult tasks in assessing the risk from possible terrorist access to nuclear materials is keeping tabs on the safety and security of the scores of sites in this region that house fissile stocks. There is no substitute for “on the ground” work by seasoned experts who can monitor where the weakest links are.

This gift will help track the spread of nuclear weapons and materials, and remove the threat of “loose nukes" as rapidly as possible and identify where the greatest vulnerabilities exist.
