Problem
In the world's poorest countries, the average resident lives in a cycle of poverty and hunger. This is especially true for women, who rarely have access to the same economic opportunities as men. Without special charity lending initiatives called "microfinance," many women would be unable to secure a loan to start a small business.
The Gift
Your gift of $200 can help IMC to give a deserving woman a loan to start her own business. Through a proven "community investment" model, women pay back their loans not to IMC, but to a community bank that consists of the pooled contributions of a group of women. By saving and redistributing funds, women develop their own sustainable banking system. This community empowerment is at the core of IMC's mission to catalyze long-lasting change, and is one of the best ways for women to achieve a simple but often elusive goal: their own income through their own hard work. Through microfinance, women get help without a handout.
