Problem
Unequal access to health care and humanitarian aid exacerbates ongoing conflicts and intensifies resentment, ethnic tensions, and outright hostilities. Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ingushetia are examples of places where IMC's insistence on equitable treatment for people on all sides of a conflict has been essential for beginning the process of rebuilding communities.
The Gift
Whether IMC is training health workers on both sides of a conflict, as we did in Angola; providing psychsocial support for teens; or simply serving remote populations that have long been ignored, our programs promote peace in a basic, yet powerful, way.
IMC knows that the role of a health worker does not and cannot include choosing sides, that everyone--regardless of race, creed, or religion--deserves access to lifesaving care. Your support of equal-access health care programs builds peace and puts communities on the path to health and prosperity.
