Problem
In poverty stricken areas of Indonesia, millions of children go to bed hungry every night. Frequent natural disasters and a weakened economy have left many poor families with little or nothing. Today, 13 million people are undernourished and malnutrition among children under five is rising. Furthermore, limited access to resources and soaring food prices have made it next to impossible for the poor to improve their situation and break out of poverty.
The Gift
Your gift of $10 will provide health and nutrition education to a poor child in Indonesia for an entire year, and help brake the vicious cycle of hunger and poverty. The World Food Program (WFP) teaches children the basics of a healthy lifestyle, such as proper nutrition, safe hygiene, and HIV/AIDS prevention. It also allows children to feel right at home by encouraging warm and friendly school environment.
The program focuses on the development of knowledge, values and life skills that will empower children to make the best health-related decisions for the rest of their lives. This self-sufficient solution to hunger will not only improve their quality of life, but the lives of future generations as well.
