Problem

The California condor population shrank to near extinction in the mid-1980s as a result of habitat destruction, poaching, and lead poisoning. Our researchers have long been dedicated to the recovery of the California condor. Together with our conservation partners, we have increased the condor population from 25 birds to nearly 300, half of which have been returned to the wild.

The Gift

To ensure the survival of released condors, our researchers have implemented a unique mentoring program designed to impart appropriate social skills to the juvenile birds. Your gift will support and further our condor conservation and reintroduction efforts in the wild, both in the United States and in Mexico.
