Problem

Each week, The Beat Within enters eight juvenile halls to hold creative writing & conversation workshops. Each week incarcerated youth turn in poetry,stories, or thoughts to be published in a weekly magazine. The magazine is published in-house ensuring that all pieces are considered and have an equal chance of being published. To produce the magazines every week is a BIG job involving youth interns & all adult staff. We deliver these magazine back into the halls for youth to read and to keep.

The Gift

Your donation will help to produce one printed copy of the magazine for one young person inside the juvenile halls. Often, the magazine will contain the youth's writing, giving him/her a sense of accomplishment, pride, and belonging in a positive community. Our magazines are also distributed to probation officers, judges, lawyers, and available ONLINE - www.thebeatwithin.org.
