Problem

We are often asked by orphanages to help heal the heart of a child struggling with heart disease. So often these children are blue, get frequent infections, labor to breath, and are so weak they have a hard time eating. Orphaned children with heart disease are among the most vulnerable children living in institutions. Sadly, many orphaned children with heart disease pass away, never getting that second chance at a healthy life. Children with heart defects are at risk every day they wait surgery.

The Gift

This gift will provide a second chance at life to a child who is in need of heart surgery. Children who receive their operations change from blue lips and fingers to pink right after surgery. Not only that, but the child will then be able to eat, grow, and develop normally. When sponsoring a surgery with our foundation, we send updates while the child is in the hospital and afterwards so that you can see how you have made a difference. Then, we advocate for each child to have their paperwork filed for adoption. Having a healed heart gives a child the very best change of finding their family, the ultimate gift of love. LWB has a long waiting list of children in need of this second chance at life. We partner with some of the top ranked hospitals in China to provide pediatric cardiovascular surgery to orphaned children in need. LWB has arranged hundreds of heart surgeries in China, and we believe fully that every time you save the life of a child, you change the world forever.
