Problem

Human rights groups are often marginalized and isolated, unable to overcome the communications barriers imposed on them by government-controlled media or other conditions that cut them off from attention and support. WITNESS helps these courageous individuals bring their stories to people with the power to end the silence and make a difference knowing that, for many people, seeing is believing.

The Gift

Seedings are short-term trainings to networks of human rights defenders and development of training materials & methods to ‘seed’ best practices in video advocacy as broadly as possible.
Seeding activities include short presentations on the use of video; two- to three-hour workshops; half- and full-day trainings; and multi-day trainings, and the upcoming Video Advocacy Institute as well as development of training materials including the recent “Video for Change’ book.
