Opportunities for artists are so scarce that often artists take a reactive approach to their professional path. They create work based on what they think people might buy or foundations fund or theaters present. While this approach can serve artists in the short-term, it does not help them work towards a larger set of professional goals and often leads artists to reach the mid-point of their career unsure of what it is they are pursuing.

The Gift

Your gift will provide two artists with access to Creative Capital's Strategic Planning Notebook, which will lead them through the process of outlining a plan to help them achieve their goals and aspirations. Creative Capital asks artists to claim for themselves a sense of possibility because that is the starting point for any real change. When artists focus their thoughts on what they want—rather than on the bare minimum they need—we can help them identify, and in many cases provide, the material supports they need to work towards that possibility. We never suggest that their creative path will be easy or that we’ll have all the answers. Rather, we offer support, respect their practice without question, and provide them with tools and opportunities to move their art in new directions.
