Art without an audience is simply self-reflection; it takes others to receive and absorb the work to enter the realm of public discourse. And for any creative work to truly make an impact, it needs to reach those people for whom the work will have personal meaning. But this is often more easily said than accomplished.
The Gift
Your gift will help an artist create a promotional and audience plan for their project's premiere. Creative Capital has developed a process to help artists think through exactly who might most appreciate their work. Once an artist has clearly defined the people they would like to reach, then we will coordinate a conversation with the artist and all other stakeholders in the project, such as the gallery exhibiting a series of photographs or the theater presenting a play. In these meetings, strategies for reaching the target audience are laid out and realistic goals set. Creative Capital will also support those efforts by giving grantees access to consultants who can help them connect with people who are not regular arts participants.
