Problem
More than one billion people are condemned to live on less than $1 per day. Such a crisis demands tangible solutions, and when put into practice on a wide scale, microfinance can help the poor escape poverty.
The Gift
With your generous gift of $8,000, ten MFIs as far apart as India, Mexico, Bolivia, Morocco, Haiti, and the Philippines can come together to share their ideas on new innovations in the industry. At one international dialogue, participants discussed how to use information from the Progress out of Poverty Index to make better management decisions. Topics for future events include sharing ideas about balancing staff workload to ensure benefits outweigh costs, and how to gain support for social performance management. These quarterly events are currently held via web conference, with plans to augment them with annual forums to promote participants’ discussion on each other’s progress, challenges and achievements.
