Member Board of Directors of Paso Pacifico, an NGO promoting conservation on the Western slope of Nicaragua. I am a retired US National Park Service ranger and a former PC volunteer. I live in NM.
As far as I can tell, this is a real grass roots effort. The only gringa involved in program management was raised in Costa Rica. Every program is managed by local Nicaraguan technicians. The focus is on community-based conservation, the only route to a sustainable future in Central America. We all need to support this kind of effort.
