Feed The Children is working to move pre-positioned emergency food from its international offices in neighboring Thailand to reach those displaced and devastated by the cyclone in Myanmar (Burma). Up to 2 million people have been affected by Cyclone Nargis, and many are now homeless. The United Nations estimates between 63,000 and 100,000 people may have died as a result of the cyclone. Those who survived the storm are still at risk due to lack of food, clean water, and medical supplies.

The 7.9 magnitude tremor, is estimated to have killed at least 19,500 people — and that toll is expected to rise dramatically as rescue teams continue to reach the most affected areas. In cities near the earthquake's epicenter, thousands are buried under the rubble of collapsed buildings. At least 60,000 people are still missing. Mercy Corps, through its local partner China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA), is mounting an emergency response for survivors.
