Overview
PlayPumps International is a nonprofit collaborative that enables individuals, governments, foundations, and companies to donate PlayPump(R) water systems to rural African communities and schools. Donors to PlayPumps International help improve the lives of children and their families by providing easy access to clean drinking water, enhancing public health, and offering play equipment to millions across Africa.
Mission
To provide rural communities throughout Africa with a uniquely sustainable, free supply of clean drinking water.
Program
We will carry out our mission by installing thousands of PlayPump systems throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, which will bring clean water to 10 million people over the next three years. More than 900 PlayPump systems have already been installed in South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland and Zambia.
Impact
Laughter. That’s the loudest sound you’ll hear at African schools with a PlayPump water system. In addition to the joy it brings the children and the access to clean water, the system can: improve sanitation and hygiene; raise awareness of healthy behaviors, such as preventing and reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS; eliminate barriers to education; increase opportunities for women and girls; and spur economic development and create jobs.
