Description:

Africa Aid seeks San Diego-based volunteers with expertise in international economic development and microfinance to help us create an innovative international aid program. Team members will work a university faculty expert to create a class at a local San Diego-based university that will allow students to plan a real-world Microlending Agricultural Program (MAP) that will benefit women in Africa.


Responsibilities:


* Work with Africa Aid team to define, plan and implement long-term program strategies and objectives.

* Work with Africa Aid management, university professors and external advisors to create/update project timelines, program budgets, and fundraising strategy.

* Build partnerships as needed with non-governmental organizations, universities, and the private sector to help achieve program goals.

* Define success for the clearly outline the desired outcomes and measurement indicators; develop an effective evaluation framework, conduct impact analysis and analyze and report on the results of each MAP initiative; conduct ongoing monitoring of project effectiveness.


Requirements:


* Experience relevant to microfinance, international economic empowerment, and the planning/management of foreign assistance programs. Work experience in university student education and/or Africa preferred.

* Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build partnerships with NGOs, universities, and the private sector.

* Experience in development of economic empowerment programs in developing countries preferred.

* Strong outcome orientation with a focus on measurable impact and results.

* Open communicator with the ability to seek and receive input form all types of people and resources; commitment to transparency and willingness to engage in open debate with teammates on the content of the work.

* Flexible and comfortable working in ambiguous situations and fast-paced, changing environments. Desire to join a fun and dedicated team to make a difference and gain valuable experience in the nonprofit community.

* Conscious and passionate of the effect of one’s international assistance work, with the desire to craft innovative programs that create a positive effect both here and abroad.
