Description:

Volunteer with Computer CORE, a non-profit organization that teaches low-income adults computer skills to improve their career opportunities. As the Student Achievement Evaluator, you will provide consistent scoring of tools used to screen program applicants and assess student progress, and assist the Computer Training Manager in ensuring that students are receiving and retaining information they need to successfully complete the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Grade and record student computer class tests. There are three tests per six months.

· Grade and record new applicant English tests (approximately 70-90 per six months), utilizing standard scoring system and assessment techniques.

· Record numerical results of application session for each applicant into the database (70-90 per six months)

· Make recommendations for improving training and supporting processes

SKILLS: Grader should have excellent command of English; excellent editing skills; attention to detail; people skills; a high level of responsibility and reliability with a flexible, can-do attitude; and proficiency in using web-based forms.

TRAINING/SUPERVISION: The Computer Training Manager will provide orientation for tasks described above as well as on-going oversight where necessary. Orientation will include: 1) an introduction to scoring, 2) planning meeting(s), 3) follow up meeting following first student assessment (and before distribution of results to students), 4) at least one check-in meeting during registration process, and 5) continued support as needed by volunteer.
