Description:
The primary responsibility of the
Access Counselor is to
provide information, referrals, and
funds to women and
girls who call our helpline for
financial assistance in order
to obtain a safe, legal abortion.
Volunteers also document
work, input client data into the
computer, & help with
periodic mailings. Applicants may
propose other activities
based on specific interests and
abilities.
Volunteers should be pro-choice and
demonstrate a
strong commitment to reproductive
rights, a good
listener, able to work with people of
diverse backgrounds,
have a supportive and non-
judgmental manner, good
writing skills, attention to detail,
flexibility, and initiative.
Volunteers should be willing to
commit at least 8 hours
per week to the job. Experience with
reproductive rights
or peer counseling is preferred but
not required. Women
of color are especially encouraged to
apply.
