Description:

The Brethren Witness/Washington Office is a ministry of the General Board of the Church of the Brethren. This program seeks to resource and call to action the larger church in relation to issues of peace, justice and the global community. The Brethren Witness/Washington Office uses volunteers as Legislative Associates and as Program Associates for one or two year assignments. Duties include active participation with Capitol Hill working groups specific to office determined areas of focus; writing; editing and promoting resource material in relation to various issues; integrating Church of the Brethren policy statements into written and oral communications with membership, congregations and districts; website and electronic resource development; nonviolence organizing; Faith Expedition planning and organizing; general office duties; and acting as host to visiting Brethren and other faith communities and representatives to the DC area. Re: General knowledge of the programs and values of the Church of the Brethren, good communication skills, basic computer and data base capabilities, a high motivation and faith commitment to peace and justice issues, able to work both as a self starter and in collaboration with multiple office staff.
